This picture depicts the scenery around us on the boat ride like the forest, rocky shores and flat beaches that we passed on the Saco River. Being on the boat and watching all of the animals and plants around us as we went down the river seemed like a good way to end the class and helps summarize a big part of what we learned this semester. So many forms of life shared that area around and in the water, all part of a web of “entangled life”. The ecosystem around the river and ocean is just a small part of the varieties of systems that cover our planet and live symbiotically. Every life form has its own special role in its environment and in order to maintain that harmony between life, we need to protect every part of these ecosystems. I think this was a huge takeaway from the class and I’ll try to focus more on how I interact and protect these areas of life while we still have them.
